Keibul Lamjao is the world's only floating national park, situated on floating biomass islands called phumdis.
The Manipur brow-antlered deer (sangai) is the state animal of Manipur and is found only here.
Phumdis are floating masses of soil, vegetation, and organic matter up to 1 metre thick.
The sangai was believed to be extinct until a small population was rediscovered in 1953.
