Located in the Terai region of Uttar Pradesh along the Nepal border, Dudhwa is home to tigers, one-horned rhinoceroses, and barasingha. Its dense sal forests and tall grasslands are among the finest Terai habitats.

Dudhwa was championed by conservationist Billy Arjan Singh who also reintroduced tigers and leopards here.
Indian one-horned rhinoceroses were reintroduced to Dudhwa from Assam in the 1980s.
The park shares an open border with Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary and Pilibhit Tiger Reserve.
The Swamp Deer (barasingha) found here is a separate subspecies from those in Kanha.
